According to Meridian Elementary, these are the things your child should practice before beginning kindergarten:
1. Writing his/her name (with the first letter capitalized and the rest lowercase).
2. Holding his/her pencil appropriately
3. Cutting with scissors
4. Counting to 10
5. Be familiar with what letters are. Be aware of letter sounds and understand that letters represent sounds in words.
6. Sharing and cooperating with peers.
We will be learning all this and more in preschool next year! By the end of the year, your child will know all letters of the alphabet, the sound they make and how to write them. We will know the numbers 1-10 very well and will be able to count to at least 20 (probably higher!). We will be spending lots of time learning to cooperate and work together, as well as learning how to be responsible.
There is still room, contact me to sign your child up!
